A snapshot of my experience building an arcade cabinet

Getting Started

Project Arcade BookThe first thing I did to build my cabinet was research.  I checked out the BYOAC community site, and I came across the Heavy Metal Arcade Cabinet that was the cabinet I wanted to model mine around. I loved the kick plate, the cartoon artwork, and it just looked bad ass in general.  Except I wanted mine to be 4 players, just like the TMNT arcade game.  I also went out and got Saint’s book  Project Arcade, now in a second edition.  This book was a great help and provide a great number of insights.

My first suggestion is to get a vision of what you want to build. Once you know what you want, then piecing it together is a bit easier.  I liked the look of the Heavy Metal Arcade Cabinet, so I ordered the same template they used from MAME Room (Now North Coast Custom Arcades).  I downloaded the blue prints and started to buy my material.
